On the second anniversary of the “double carbon” strategy, how has the green transformation of home appliance companies been accomplished?

2022-11-22 By Admin

It has been more than two years since September 2020, when China formally proposed the dual carbon targets of carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutral by 2060 at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly. During these two years, under the guidance of the dual carbon policy, all industries have accelerated the layout and construction of the green industry chain. As an important component of the manufacturing industry and national economy, the home appliance industry has realized the reduction of energy consumption, energy saving and emission reduction in the whole life cycle of home appliance products from the production side to the consumption side. The concept of “low-carbon green” has become the consensus of the development of the home appliance industry.

Transformation of the manufacturing industry is the most important to achieve the “double carbon” goal

The report “Industry Reengineering in the Zero Carbon Era – “Zero Carbon Dividend” Releasing New Kinetic Energy of Chinese Manufacturing” released by Caixin think tank shows that to achieve “carbon neutrality”, in addition to vigorously developing wind, light, water, and other renewable energy sources to reduce carbon emissions in the power industry, the “carbon neutrality” transformation of the manufacturing industry is also a priority to achieve the “double carbon” goal. In addition to the development of renewable energy sources such as wind, light, and water, and the reduction of carbon emissions in the power industry, the transformation and development of the manufacturing industry into “carbon neutral” is also a top priority to achieve the goal of “double carbon”.

An academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering has mentioned that the carbon footprint of a product exists throughout its life cycle, from raw material procurement, handling, product manufacturing, delivery and transportation, and use, all the way to product consumption and waste disposal.

Therefore, we can see that the current manufacturing industry’s deployment practice of double carbon has been integrated into all aspects of clean energy utilization, production process improvement, and innovative technology development. For example, in the important link of carbon reduction, key low-carbon technologies such as preparation and storage of hydrogen energy, optimization of industrial processes, carbon capture, and carbon sink are realized; in the innovation iteration, technical upgrades such as waste heat utilization, high-efficiency motor, high-efficiency insulation, frequency conversion, and speed regulation, and gradient utilization are focused; in the development of industrial chain, an all-green manufacturing system with green design, green supply chain, green factory, etc. as the core is built.

Specifically in the home appliance industry, as one of the “four giants” of the traditional economy and an important support for the manufacturing industry, the green transformation of home appliance enterprises is crucial to the implementation of the dual carbon strategy. Over the past two years, home appliance companies have been working on the dual carbon strategy to reduce energy consumption, energy saving, and emission reduction from the demand, procurement, manufacturing, sales, and use of products, as well as practicing green transformation in the consumption of green and intelligent home appliances and recycling of used home appliances.

Double carbon is an inevitable choice for the sustainable development of society. Home appliance companies are taking the dual carbon strategy as traction, moving towards energy saving and emission reduction, quality, and efficiency improvement, and industrial transformation, constantly innovating and exploring new technologies and new models to achieve the common development of green goals and economic goals.

“Double carbon” drive home appliance enterprises green upgrade

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), household appliances are the second largest source of residential energy consumption, accounting for more than 20% of total residential energy consumption (after heating), and this percentage has been on the rise for more than a decade. Meanwhile, 30% of residential carbon emissions come from household appliances. So, how do home appliance companies reduce and upgrade carbon in products such as refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, water heaters, and other energy-consuming products?

Home appliance companies will always be the concept of environmental protection, from the source of pollution prevention, optimization of raw material inputs, improve production processes; while practicing green management of the entire production process, reduce resource consumption, reduce the emission of pollutants; after technology iteration upgrade the production of products, in the use of the process is also more environmentally friendly attributes.

Of course, the production of green, the use of green is only one of the home appliance companies to practice the dual carbon strategy. At present, home appliance enterprises are also constantly exploring new green development directions and economic benefits growth points.
